Important note from TN Dept of Health: WIC FORMULA UPDATE

Every five years, the state is required to re-bid the WIC infant formula contract. Effective July 1, 2014, WIC will provide the Abbott Nutrition line of infant formulas (Similac). The attached letter has additional information about this change and we have also developed a quick reference guide to help you understand the changes in available formula. The standard formula (Similac Advance, 20 cal/oz) and soy formula (Similac Soy Isomil, 20 cal/oz) will be available to participants without any additional documentation. Abbott does have two alternative formulas (Similac Sensitive and Similac Total Comfort) which are both 19 cal/oz (different from the standard 20 cal/oz formula). These two formulas will require signed documentation from the health care provider. WIC will also continue to provide therapeutic formulas for participants with qualifying conditions.
