The Culturally Effective Care Summit is the second in a series of three summits that are part of the Medical Home Implementation Series, a partnership between TN Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Tennessee Pediatric Society Foundation, and TN Department of Health. Click here to view the Summit agenda.

Objective:

The summit objective is to provide attendees an increased understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to providing Culturally Effective Care to children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families.

Culturally Effective Care has been defined as:

·     Care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, disability, and socioeconomic status.

·     Culturally Effective Care embraces the principles of equal access and non-discriminatory practices in service delivery.

·     Recognizing, respecting and incorporating patients’ and families’ background, values, beliefs and perspectives into a care plan.

This summit will include speakers and materials to increase awareness of topics related to diversity that are relevant to any practice.  The summit is free of charge and registration is limited.  Parking is complimentary for summit guests.  A boxed lunch will be provided at no cost.
