Day of Reflection (Centering Prayer)

A Day of Reflection

Introduction to Centering Prayer: Receiving God’s Love

 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Centering Prayer is a method of prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplation by cultivating interior silence and purity of heart. The method was distilled from the profound and ancient teachings of the Christian contemplative heritage first evident in the early Desert Fathers and Mothers. It uses silence and attention to encourage the development of alert receptivity of God's presence and action within us.

The one day retreat will include a discussion on contemplative prayer from the Christian perspective, instruction on the Centering Prayer method as it was developed by Fr. Thomas Keating and fellow Trappist monks, communal and individual prayer time, silence and group dialogue. Appropriate for all levels of prayer experience; new-comers to Centering prayer are welcome; non-Christians welcome.

A light breakfast and lunch are included.

Suggested donation: $35
