Whole-Farm Revenue Protection Shop Talk and Field Day August 1, 2015 This field day will begin with a presentation of the new Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) crop insurance program by Jeff Schahczenski, agriculture policy and funding research director with the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT). Diversified producer Tony Thompson will then lead a tour of his farm. Light refreshments will be provided. The field day is co-sponsored by NCAT, the Iowa Farmers Union and New Family Farm, with support from the USDA Risk Management Agency. New Family Farm is owned and operated by Tony Thompson, who raises vegetables and produces eggs at his family’s century farm. The farm’s products are marketed primarily through a CSA, now in its second year, and to wholesale clients. Thompson is dedicated to sustainable practices and serves on the board of the Iowa Farmers Union.
