Developing Clinical Supervision Skills II

This 2‐day training builds upon Clinical Supervision I, and provides tools focused on the development of substance use professionals. This Clinical Supervision Model is applicable to other behavioral health practitioners as well. Content:

·         Review of CS I skills

Practice using a collaborative/cooperative feedback model, developing a

Professional Development Plan, and conducting a Supervisory Interview.

·         Group Case Consultation model based on Motivational Interviewing

·         Training Manuals to be referenced:

o    TIP 52: Clinical Supervision and Professional Development of the Substance Abuse Counselor

o    TAP 21: Addiction Counseling Competencies: The Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes of Professional Practice

o    Performance Assessment Rubrics for the Addiction Counseling Competencies

o    TAP 21 A: Competencies for Substance Abuse Treatment Clinical Supervisors

·         The Corrective Interview

Practice in the use of the Corrective Interview when the

cooperative/collaborative model is not successful. Provides a format for

conducting a corrective interview and role playing to assist supervisors in developing confidence.

·         Ethics and Professional Boundaries

Practice in the use of ethical decision-making. Participants will use models of ethical decision making to seek solutions to scenarios regarding ethical dilemmas.
