Dads and Daughters Keep Controversial Toys Off the Shelf Using thedatabank's Online Advocacy System
The Pussycat Dolls, a popular singing group from LA, may be all over the media these days, but you won't be finding them on a toy shelf anytime soon. Dads and Daughters, a national advocacy nonprofit that strives to create healthy, meaningful relationships between all dads and their daughters, was successful in their effort to stop the production of dolls modeled after the popular singing group.
Because of the Pussycat Dolls' risqué lyrics and image, many people felt the dolls would be inappropriate for young girls. Hasbro has canceled their plans to manufacture the controversial dolls.
This success was the result of an online action issued by Dads and Daughters to their members. Concerned parents were prompted to contact Hasbro, by sending a letter outlining their concerns. They had the option to send a sample message with the click of a button, or write their own. The action alert system, powered by thedatabank's Advocacy Module, has been the source of many organization's successes in achieving their goals.
This is not the first time Dads and Daughters has seen success from their use of the online action alert system. By mobilizing supporters to contact corporate boards, they have proven over and over that people have the power to make the world a better place.
