America Votes uses thedatabank for Nation-Wide GOTV operation

"I don't know one candidate from the next." "I don't have the time." "My vote doesn't make a difference." These are all common excuses that Americans use for not going to the polls on Election Day, but America Votes was determined to change all that.

You may not know America Votes by name, but it is likely that you came in contact with one of their thousands of volunteers in the weeks before the election. With over 30 organizations, America Votes is the largest grassroots voter mobilization and education coalition in the United States and they turned up the heat to get progressive voters to the polls across the country on November 7th.

With help from thedatabank's Volunteer Management software, America Votes launched their record-breaking Get Out the Vote operation. This operation, which was the largest in the country, encouraged progressive voters to sign up to volunteer in their home state.

thedatabank's relationship management software enables America Votes, its state chapters, and its coalition members to manage a complex volunteer database. They can organize volunteers by region and interest, assign groups of volunteers to an organization, generate mailings, send personalized bulk email messages, and create phone lists. They can even query their Databank for very specific lists of volunteers. For example, say they wanted a list of people in a certain precinct who are available to give rides on Election Day. America Votes could view or print that phone list, showing how many seats each volunteer has in their vehicle.

Online forms, hosted by thedatabank, allow people to sign up to volunteer instantly. Volunteers who sign up online immediately receive an email acknowledgement, confirming their registration and giving further instructions.

Over seven million voters in nine targeted states were contacted on Election Night Weekend, thanks to the hard work of over 250 national and local progressive organizations. To put this into perspective, in Ohio alone, a whopping 2.6 million voters were contacted. Here in Minnesota nearly 740,000 voters were contacted. Great job to everyone who was involved in this GOTV Operation!
