Security & Infrastructure

Trust thedatabank with your organization's most important asset: your data. It's safer with thedatabank than it is at your office!

That's because we provide state-of-the-art security and backups, so you don't have to worry about loss or unauthorized access. Client data is maintained in a "Tier 1" secure data server environment - the same kind used by your bank to store sensitive information.

thedatabank is an ASP (Application Service Provider), which means clients essentially rent the Databank, and access it over a secure internet connection. Your organization owns the data and we will never sell or exchange it.

Here are some more detailed explanations of our security and infrastructure:

Capacity - the Databank is fully scalable and has been used with up to 5 million records, 300+ user accounts, and dozens of organizations in a shared system.
Hosting - TDB's servers are at SunGard, a Tier 1 data center that provides daily backups, firewalls, redundant power supplies, and redundant Internet connections. The facility is also physically secured with 24-hour guards, locked cages, and biometric access points. SunGard has seven Tier 1 facilities across the country.
Security - Access to the database requires a password and each user has his/her own password with a specific level of permission. Data is encrypted using 128 bit SSL encryption security.
Technology - the Databank runs on Windows servers. The database servers are MS SQL 2000 running on quad Xeon processors. The email server is a dedicated StrongMail email server capable of 150,000 emails per hour. The software has been developed primarily using Active Server Pages (ASP) through VB Script. A handful of third party tools (WYSIWYG editor, file upload, etc.) have been incorporated.
Rights to Data and Application - thedatabank, inc owns the software application, including program codes and interfaces. The Client retains complete ownership of all related member data that is input and or derived from the use of the system, and can download a copy at any time if desired. TDB will not at any time rent, sell, exchange or use any client data.
