Nonprofit Neighborhood

Avast!  New clients ahead!

Ahoy, mateys!  thedatabank be pleased to welcome ye...

Land Stewardship Project - LSP is a grassroots membership organization made up of farmers as well as rural and urban residents.  Their mission is to foster an ethic of stewardship for farmland, to promote sustainable agriculture and to develop sustainable communities.  LSP has already used thedatabank for many years as part of the Minnesota Environmental Action Network , and now LSP will add DonorMax and PowerMail, giving them a complete set of technology tools for membership management and communication.

Denise O'Brien for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture - Anticipating a competitive race for this important elected position, Denise O'Brien selected VoterMax from thedatabank.  VoterMax will give her an advantage in the form of a customized database, to efficiently manage relationships with donors and supporters.  One of the first steps is adding database-driven forms to her web site, for collecting online donations and volunteer signups.

Rebecca Otto for Minnesota State Auditor - After her success as a State Representative in 2003-2004, Rebecca Otto is running for a statewide office in 2006.  She will use VoterMax to manage all aspects of the campaign, starting with fundraising.  It's interesting to note that Rebecca and her husband Shawn live in a wind and solar powered home that they built themselves.

Mike Freeman for Hennepin County Attorney -  Mr. Freeman, who has been recognized as a progressive voice in the criminal justice system, hopes to serve again in the position he held from 1991-1999. His campaign will use VoterMax for mailings, emails, web forms, and more.

Citizens Supporting Centennial Schools - Though the school referendum was defeated by an incredibly small margin in 2004, this energetic group of neighbors have it back on the ballot, and they're determined to win in 2005.  The all-volunteer organization will use VoterMax to reach out to previously identified supporters and get them to the polls.

Oregon League of Conservation Voters - After working with conservation voter leagues for the past year and a half, thedatabank is thrilled to see the Oregon LCV and the Oregon LCV Education Fund implement our full suite of nonprofit technology tools: DonorMax, e-ActionMax, PowerMai, and Meetings.  We will design a customized system to accomodate the two affiliated organizations (a 501c3 and 501c4).

State Bar of Georgia - This membership organization is comprised of all lawyers in the state of Georgia.  As part of its role to uphold the profession and provide resources, the Bar takes a position on legislation affecting its members and the practice of law.  They will use e-ActionMax to keep members informed of pertinent legislation and give them an easy way to contact elected officials.

Congratulations to UULM and all our clients and friends in California!

On September 6, the California State Assembly passed the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act.  This is the first time a US legislative body has passed civil marriage equality legislation in advance of a court order, and a historic step in the struggle for LGBT equal rights.  Although Gov. Schwarzenegger has said he will veto the act, the Unitarian-Universalist Legislative Ministry , a client of thedatabank, continues working along with many other groups to influence Gov. Schwarzenegger to change his mind and sign the act into law.

Why be I writin' like a pirate?

Because it be Talk Like a Pirate Day!  Aye, ye can read more about it at this  month's "just for fun" link (look to yer stern side in the HTML version, or near the bottom in the text version).  Arrrr!

Okay, I'll cut it out now.  But this does serve as a good segue to my upcoming vacation, which involves sailing through the legendary and treacherous Straights of Magellan in search of treasure and...penguins.

I'll be out of the office from September 29 through October 14th.  To contact someone while I'm gone, use the following:

  • For sales: email info@thedatabank.com or call our toll free number, 1-877-603-0296, and select ext 2.
  • For customer support: use the Support Request that is built in to thedatabank's Help menu.

P.S.  For those who are following the squirrel saga...the red one is still in command of my walnut tree, but I think the other squirrels are organizing.  On a recent warm night, I would swear I heard a high-pitched chorus of Squirreldarity Forever, wafting through my open window.
