New Feaures: Bulk Member Upload, Enhanced PowerMail Tracking
thedatabank was pleased to announce the release of two new features on January 18th. The first is Bulk Member Upload, a major upgrade to our Advanced Data Entry power tool. No longer do clients have to wait for thedatabank to do bulk member uploads for them.
Clients who have this power tool now have the option to import their own lists for free, any time they want, and use them immediately. This is especially convenient for importing a list for temporary use, for example a list exchange.
The second is an enhancement in PowerMail, which is used for sending bulk emails, and is part of our e-Marketing Module . Open counting, click thru tracking, scheduled mailings, and the new per-batch results reporting are now available to all clients with this module.
These new features are part of thedatabank's continuous effort to make The Databank easier to use and even more effective.
New Clients
Here are a few new clients we would like to highlight:
Association of Metropolitan School Districts - our first client of 2007!
Campaign Services - a new national agency for political campaigns, that will offer the Databank as part of a package for their clients
The Three Disciplines of Successful Non-profits: Not Making Money is More Challenging than it Looks
Tom Kingston, president of the Wilder Foundation , gave this Keynote Address for the Carlson School of Management's First Tuesday Lecture Series on Dec. 5th, 2006.

Now Hiring - Data Management Intern
We are seeking a tech intern to help with setups, data migration, testing and support. This would be perfect for a student pursuing a degree in computer science, who is familiar with MS SQL. The internship is at our Minneapolis office.

Tip du Jour
Using the new Bulk Member Upload
Clients are excited about our new Bulk Member Upload tool! Here are some possible applications:
- Get a list from a like-minded organization, through a list exchange or purchase. Use your Databank to send a fundraising appeal. Individuals who respond will be added to your permanent Databank, and the rest can be deleted from temporary storage.
- If you have a separate donor database, import any donors with email addresses, and send a special invitation asking them to sign up for Action Alerts. (Hint: we have a great Fundraising Module , contact us for a quote.)
- Likewise, if you have a separate action alert system, perhaps through a parent organization or partner - import your activists and send them a special fundraising appeal that is targeted to their interests. (And contact us about getting your own Advocacy tools.)
- Use a temporary file to test an email list. Send one email, perhaps inviting them to opt in or opt out. As the results come in, including bounces and unsubscribes, you can delete all the records that can't be used. Then merge the good emails into your permanent Databank.

Pep Talk
There is only one day left in January, and here I am publishing the January newsletter, in the nick of time. I know what you're thinking...you would NEVER procrastinate like this.
Or maybe you're like me, and you need a little pep talk once in a while. Seriously, it is hard to find adequate time for something as complex as, for example, a software purchase. You want to be diligent, evaluate all your options, and get the best value for your investment.
On the other hand, every day you wait is a missed opportunity. It's a missed chance to engage and educate your constituents, raise more money, and more effectively achieve your mission. Besides, you are sick and tired of wasting time and money on technology that doesn't meet your needs. You deserve something better.
Now go on out there and get started!
