Tip Du Jour

If advocacy is your heart's desire

Imagine an important piece of legislation is up for a vote.  Is it legal for your 501(c)(3) to lobby for or against it?  What are the limits?  What else can you do?  An article on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits web site offers some good information to help you answer these questions. Making time to show you care

I have always loved hand-made valentines.  Each year, ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I have created them for the special people in my life.  Giving my loved ones something unique that comes from the heart is a way of affirming and nurturing our relationship.

In January, I had the privilege of attending Camp Wellstone.  I learned that one of the keys to Paul Wellstone's 1990 election as MN Senator, against all odds, was a fantastic grassroots field operation.  Not only did he personally connect with many citizens, he also multiplied his efforts through legions of volunteers.  The message was unique, and straight from the heart...you could say it was like a hand-made valentine.

At thedatabank, we understand that having effective relationships with your most important supporters takes a lot of time, and a lot of work.  That's why we offer tools that help you make time to show you care.  Streamlining administrative tasks, such as data entry, frees you to focus on what is most important.  "Forward-To-A-Friend" and other peer-to-peer contacts help your network grow through personal connections.

Happy Valentine's day.  I hope you find delight, as I do, in making time to show you care.

Karen
