      <title>Take Action: Thank Governor Bentley for stand on energy</title>
      <description><![CDATA[Governor Bentley has directed state government to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent by 2015. Please thank the Governor for his leadership on this issue.<br><br>On December 28, 2011, Governor Robert Bentley released Executive Order 25 directing state departments and agencies to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent by Fiscal Year 2015 relative to Fiscal year 2005 levels.

The Governor also directed each agency to designate an "Energy Officer" to study, investigate and recommend energy saving procedures and practices for their agency.

From the Governor's press release:

“State government is a major consumer of energy.  My administration is working hard to make government more efficient with taxpayer dollars and conserving energy at state facilities is one way we can help make government more efficient,” said Governor Robert Bentley. “State agencies can take the lead and foster ideas on ways to conserve energy and become a model on energy efficiency.”<br><br><strong>Deadline for action: 2/14/2012.</strong>]]></description>
