2009 Upgrade Archives

New Soft Credits Feature gives members credit for money raised
thedatabank launched a new feature for their Fundraising Module: Soft Credits! This feature allows users to give members credit for money they've raised through their employer, an a-thon, or other source. Be sure to watch our short video tutorials and sign up for one of our special Soft Credit training sessions.

New Support System
To help us better manage support requests from our growing number of clients, thedatabank is adopting a new technical support system effective August 17, 2009. Submitting a request will still work the same way: simply click Support under your Help menu, and fill out the form.  This creates a support ticket for us, and gives us some important information that helps diagnose problems. The first time you create a Support Request, you'll receive a Welcome Email, asking you to set up a password so you can log in at http://support.thedatabank.com to see your requests. Search by Relative Date Range
Search for transactions or contacts that happened in the past 90 days, or pledge payments due next month - any date field now gives you the option to search by a relative date range.  This is especially useful in saved searches.

Click to view Next and Previous member record
When viewing a member record that is part of a selection, you now have the option to click a Next or Previous button at the top of the page to see the other records in the selection.

Email Verification Service for Databank Clients
Databank clients can now order Email Verification services right from their Databank. This service will check for emails marked as bad in your entire database (or from a list that you've selected) and estimate the cost to find and update bad emails that can be turned back to OK. Note: You must have access to the Setup menu in your Databank to order this or any other data service we provide.

New Email Feature for Contact Notes
Contact notes entered in your Databank can now be emailed to anyone of your choosing. After entering a new contact note, click the email icon in the New Contact window to open your email program, pre-filled with the contact information.

Which Tables Contain Data?
It is now easier to see which tables in a person's record contain data. Tables containing data display as black, while tables that do not contain data display as gray. Please note: all tables are still clickable.

Target Contact Forms for Advocacy Software Module Now more Accessible
When a client sends out an email action alert encouraging the advocate to contact a target using a website contact form, when clicked upon, the form will now display right on the client's action page, rather than having to leave the site to fill out the contact form.

Option to Exlcude Do Not Call/Mail When Creating Roster Reports
When creating a roster report (standard member/contribution roster, meetings roster, or roster created from a custom table) there is now an option to exclude members marked Do Not Call and/or Do Not Mail.

Automatic District Matching
For clients who have a data license for political districts, the system now automatically updates a member's districts and representatives when a member record is edited and saved.  This means you no longer have to remember to click “Update Districts” after you edit or add a member record. Note: This districting only happens if an address (line 1) and/or zip code has been entered or changed. In addition, it only applies to the regular member editing form, not advanced data entry.

New User Login History
Under the Setup menu in your Databank, there is a new feature in the user list.  A new right hand column shows the date of the most recent login for each user account, and is linked to the history of logins for that user account.  The data goes back to November 2008, so any logins happening before then are not in the list.  For clients who have orgs set up in their system, the Users list now shows a drop down of the organization names, so the user can check on all their coalition user accounts from this page.

Update member info from a PowerMail link
Clients who have PowerMail and an online signup form can now send out an email asking their members to update their information, without having to re-type everything.  Simply create a link to your signup form, using the "Form Links" drop-down on the bottom line of the HTML editor's toolbar. Next, right-click on the link and open the Link properties. Select "Personalize link" and click OK. When a member clicks on this link, the form will know who they are.  It will ask them to confirm their identity, then present the personal information page with their data pre-filled.  All they have to do is make corrections and save. Clients can use click-thru tracking on the link to see how many members actually go to verify their info.

More Tell-a-Friend Sharing Links now live in Advocacy Software Module
By using the new sharing links at the bottom of the action alert pages on your web site, your online activists can now more easily encourage others to view your action alerts. The new sharing modes include Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Previously Tell-a-Friend was limited to email and was only viewable after the supporter took action.

Promote your Databank efforts through Facebook, Twitter and more
It's now easier than ever to promote events, action alerts, etc on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks with a few clicks in your Databank. For Meetings & Events Software Module users, your public calendar now has links to share the meeting details on a variety of popular social networking sites. Note: Tell-a-Friend functionality must be enabled when you set up an event. You can also post a short message to Twitter right from Selection -> Text Msg in your system by clicking the 'Send to Twitter' button.

New Meetings and Events Software Module Features

  • Clients can now limit the number of seats that a member can reserve for a meeting and set up their paid meetings accordingly.
  • Clients can now see the payments for a member's paid meetings in their record.
  • Public calendar now detects whether a member has already registered for a meeting before, and gives them a chance to cancel reserving additional seats - or prevent them from reserving additonal seats, if there's a per-member limit and they've  reached it or would exceed it.
  • Public calendar now shows the number of reservations for unpaid meetings, if it is greater than 1, in the cart, thank you page, and confirmation email.

Integrated Data Services Request Form
Need an NCOA, email or phone append? Ordering Data Enhancement Services through thedatabank is easier than ever. By using the Data Service Order Form in the Setup menu of your Databank, you can now order popular data enhancements to your database with the click of a mouse. Simply select the records in your Databank you want enhanced and go to the Data Service Order Form under the Setup menu and select the services you want performed. In a few days your data will be updated with your requested information. You can even subscribe to quarterly NCOA updates to comply with the new USPS regulations. Note: You must have Admin level access to your Databank to see the Data Services Form.

Auto-Renew and Auto-Pay on Pledge Editing Form
As part of the Fundraising Software Module, there is a new form in The Databank for editing pledge schedules. This new form gives clients the option of auto-renewing pledges for a year at a time, by setting the renewal date and checking the "autorenew" box.  This will add another year of payments (twelve if monthly; four if quarterly, etc.) to the end of the pledge schedule on the renewal date. Also, for clients who have the "autopay" option turned on, an "autopay" checkbox is available for all pledges that were created by posting a web payment. Note: autopay is currently available only for clients who use Authorize.net or Fast Charge payment gateways.
